Pokemon x Recycling: An Unexpected Friendship
Updated: Sep 16, 2019
I endeavour to include as much pokemon related items in my new apartment as humanly possible in order to make the place feel both personalised and cute! Therefore when my OceanBomb cans became dusty and useless I decided to take a trip to my local B&Q to purchase some soil and gloves to repot my cacti as a multipurpose decoration for my desk.
The soil purchased was the 'Westland Cacti & Succulent potting mix" and it was £4.99 for 4litres (A bargain as I still have over half left!)
I first began my using a can opener to remove to top of each can and sanding the edges to avoid any sharp metal left, I also wore gardening gloves throughout the whole repotting as cacti spikes hurt too... Ouch!
Then I removed my cacti from their original pots. I could tell they were in need of repotting because their roots were beginning to grow out of the bottom and could not get enough nutrients. I also discarded of any old/ mouldy soil that accumulated on the old pots.
The rest is fairly self explanatory in that I filled my cans with soil and then placed the cacti in them, packing down the soil until they stood tall and stable.
With regards to watering; I water them much less frequently now that they are in soil specifically for cacti and therefore hold much more mixture and nutrients, but I will water them with a couple of teaspoons of water every few months just to be safe.
